\u00a0<\/em>The house of the \u201cCarancho Gonzalez\u201d who was a friend of Juan Manuel de Rosas. When Rosas was away from his house he was the one who stayed making company and protecting his wife Encarnacion and his family.<\/i><\/p>

Vicente Gonzalez was born in Montevideo in the year 1770. There he did his initiation in weapons, later he made a living as a tailor until the year 1811 when he reincorporated himself in the military activity.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Right hand and friend of \u201cDon juan Manuel de Rosas\u201d, he performed as chairman and justice of peace of the guard. He was a collaborator in the conformation of \u201ccolorados del Monte\u201d and during the desert campaign he was who stayed in the guard and took care of sending the money and provisions to \u201cRosas\u201d.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

He made contributions to Monte\u00b4s progress since Rosas became the governor at the end of 1829, showing great concern for the public school, its buildings and making effort to ensure that the teachers keep living in Monte, he rented them houses and made their pay better. He was the one who supervised the reconstruction of the church that the restorator instigated and gave Chacras to those who completed the requirements of the government law.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The house that belongs to \u201cVicente Gonzales\u201d, is found in the urban center of Monte, at 275 belgrano street. The building is original, in a colonial style, it has wood portals grid on the outside and it has a cistern. It is currently a private property.<\/p>

Nicknamed \u201cthe carancho of monte\u201d because of the features of his face that reminds of said bird (carancho bird). Gonzales undeniably supported the federal cause whit active military participation.<\/p>

After the battle of Caseros little was known of him. He died on June 24th of 1861 at 94 years old in Buenos Aires.<\/p>
